Assessment

The key elements of each Diploma are assessed as follows:

1. Principal Learning

Assessed through a combination of exams and work marked by a teacher.

2. Functional Skills

Assessed through externally set tests.

3. Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills

Asessed by a teacher throughout the two year course.

4. Work Experience

Work experience may be assessed by both the employer and your teacher.

5. The Student Project

The Student project will be marked by your teacher.

6. Additional and Specialist Learning Options

The assessment of the additional and specilaist options will depend on the specific course chosen; you will need to check with your school. The overall grade for the Diploma is calculated by combining the grades obtained for the Principal Learning and The Student Project.

The functional skills, personal learning and thinking skills and additional and specialist learning do not count towards the Diploma grade.

These elements will be tested and graded as separate awards.
